Program Announced

“VSD 2026 endorses the power of meeting, connecting and communicating – building our future together”
Inge Wouters, Chair of the VSD2026 Committee

Around this year’s theme, “From Lab to Life – How the Veterinary Faculty jointly impacts our Future”, the VSD2026 committee has created an inspiring program. Because impact starts with connection, the day offers plenty of opportunities to meet one another, exchange ideas, and get to know colleagues in new ways.
The organization is pleased that Hille Fieten, David Speksnijder, and Cecile van Els will share their experiences on how they connect their research with policy, practice, and society.
Connection and interaction are also central to the poster presentations (n=51), oral presentations (n=21), and interactive workshops. Participants can join three workshops:

  • Kick-off Analysts Platform: a session in which analysts from across the faculty come together and strengthen their network;
  • Online Presence and Shaping Your Career: focusing on online visibility, networking, and career choices for (junior) researchers;
  • Master Your Research Pitch: learning and practicing how to present your research clearly and convincingly, including pitch contest.

The day will conclude with a keynote lecture by
Sicco de Knecht:
“Science Communication – A Two-Way Street.”

When science and society interact, it is often in the form of researchers ’stating what the science is’. But science communication can be so much more than that. In his keynote Sicco de Knecht focuses on the unique role of the Veterinary Sciences in our current age and tackles some of the biggest ‘myths’ in science communication. Myths that have to be left behind if science is to strengthen the connection between science and society.

We look forward to welcoming you. Registration is open until 1 June 2026 via the website: Veterinary Science Day
